Satirical Influences
This Satire Gallery contains satire themed art works and paintings. In fact they mainly take their artistic inspiration from political figures.
Indeed they also find inspiration from political situations. In the first place, they are products of the time that they were painted.

by bringing controversial situations in to sharp focus. In fact by employing comparison or at contrast with previously negative figures or situations in history.
Themes within the Satire Gallery
We see art works like “Butcher’s shop” and “Axis of Evil” as emotive paintings. Indeed, they reflect on leaders who have joyfully embraced war.
The painting “Axis of Evil” turns the so-called “Axis” countries view on its head. Alternatively instead of the portraying them as the evil perpetrators, they are shown to be victims of bullying super powers. A rally against “Might is right”.
Warmongering, (yet charismatic) leaders like George W. Bush and his “War on terror”. He skilfully worked the people up in to a frenzy.
As well as being fired up by the media. Furthermore Tony Blair and his controversial 2003 Invasion of Iraq. Moreover the artwork “Box of dummies” alludes to politician’s being puppets of shadowy dark forces.
The Political Characters Within the Artwork
You will find here, depictions of famous politicians like Tony Blair and George W. Bush. Not forgetting some other more dark and sinister figures from earlier in the 20th century.
Disturbing Moments in the Satire Gallery
These paintings comment on the uncomfortable moments for the world. To tell the truth, these were times where the world was balanced on a knife-edge. Moreover , we were at the brink. In fact, a point where the world could be plunged in to another bloody world war. In other cases, the artwork acts as a commentary on the dark and unsettling spectrum of moods. Moods that these events brought to the world.
In truth they were disturbing times. Times where our leaders exceeded their elected mandate. They stood on the opposing side of popular opinion.
