Welcome to the Mythology Gallery
This Mythology Gallery contains art works and paintings that take their artistic inspiration from famous age-old myths.
There are some myths here from around all the world. But most of the myths here, come predominantly from
ancient classical Greece and its surrounding islands.
The Mythological Influences
You will find within this mythology gallery, famous well-loved mythological heroes and gods. As well as the infamous mythological monsters and creatures. Indeed the art works here are influenced by the great myths like the Gorgons,
the Minotaur and Pegasus. Moreover the Sphinx, the Cyclops and the Pagan gods of classical Greece. Here are various paintings that cover a spectrum of scenes and characters. All that can be found within the realm of mythology.
The Characters of Myth
Here are the many different depictions of famous mythological characters. In the first place creatures like the magnificent and menacing Medusa (the Gorgon with a hair made of living venomous snakes). As well as the half-man, half-bull Minotaur of Crete. Let alone the angry Cyclops (the one-eyes giant). Not forgetting the Pegasus (the horse with wings) and the Sphinx (half-man and half-lion). Moreover Pandora (who opened the box of terrors to the world, though one item remained, that was hope).
Furthermore there are the great Pagan gods of mythology like Zeus (the king of the gods), Neptune (the god of the sea) Helios (the sun god) and Aphrodite (the goddess of love).
Great Moments in the Mythology Gallery
Here are such great moments found in the much loved myths. The artist sometimes can bring about a touch of whimsical subject matter. This is even though many of the myths can be dark and unsettling. For example the amusing anachronistic stone umbrellas in “The departure of Helios”. Some of the artworks have quirky and amusing titles, such as “Gorgon-zola”.
